there’s something about watching documentaries / youtube videos about space, the planets, and the cosmos that really gives you a kind of easy existential answer. it takes some reminding.

here we are living in the most miraculously beautiful planet in the solar system, literally in the perfect time, perfect space (perfect distance from the sun, the moon, etc.) and perfect conditions to be able to harbor life so diverse and colorful it’s seen no where else in the universe. like... i get it now. let me watch the sunset and pet my cat and take care of my loved ones and eat delicious food

here at the sandwich shop, we’ve started to notice some people who are new to sandwiches aren’t used to meat and cheese between two slices of bread. they find this practice strange and confusing. that’s why we’ve decided to cut the bread out all together. from now on, we’ll just serve slices of meat and cheese on a plate.

im sure someone with an actual UI/UX degree can explain this better than me but:

a. idk what this logo is doing in the middle. given the majority of the left hand side column is left-aligned i think that's what you should've done with the logo too
b. this menu needs bigger font and larger spacings. when you have this much blank space below it looks unnecessarily crowded
c. at this point you have a middle-aligned logo, left-aligned menu and right-aligned new post button. sure you know that's bad... it's like they were designed by three different teams at three diff companies....
d. there's no reason to leave this big square of dead space to the left of the discovery menu esp since we're expected to scroll through the discovery menu that's already too big to fit into the same screen?
e. the margins and paddings here look very odd. the "Manage..." on top right has a 0px margin between itself and the lil grey line. the new post menu on bottom right has about 15px, everything on the right hand side has about 8px. im pretty sure if your margins are consistent it'd look better
f. also the "Following | For you | Your tags etc etc" received the biggest font in this whole layout but shouldn't the visual focus be put on the actual content itself?

we need to go back to hating tumblr. no more hellsite (affectionate). don't even think of giving these clowns your money. if i see you with a checkmark next to your name i'm opening fire

tumblr's current business model isn't profitable and never will be and no amount of scolding from staff blogs or tumblr ad-free pay piggies is gonna fix that. don't let yourself be guilted into buying merch, badges or ad-free. you're throwing your money into a bottomless pit while the techbro ghouls running this website laugh about you at their next board meeting while applauding the shmucks coming up with new ideas on how to twitter- or tiktokify the website

if tumblr really wants its regular user onboard with keeping the website afloat then we should at least demand that they do the bare minimum in keeping the site functional. and right now, they're not even doing that. every change they've made lately has made the website/app worse. i should give my money to tumblr so what—they can make a more intrusive version of tumblr live? remove the chronical dashboard? come up with an even more transphobic way of doing content moderation? yeah, no thanks
